Sometimes I try out a new hairstyle that I'm not used to and society will tell me if it looks good on me through compliments or if it doesn't, through anti-compliments(typically[hopefully] from friends). While I wrote that thought, I couldn't help but think of how Berger(from Leppert) explains men and women. "Men act and women appear." Why else would I feel 120% more accomplished when a guy compliments me than when a female does? Bordo and Leppert suggest that we see the world from a male point of view, so would that explain my need for acceptance? Maybe, but then again, maybe I just feel better about myself when it comes from the opposite sex because of how society has subjected us into females who require that type of attention to feel that bit of self-esteem that we can't produce ourselves.

Check out my hair
One thing I do everyday is contemplate on how my hair will look. Susan Bordo suggests that from the decision of whether I should shampoo it or not to should I wear it up or down, curly/straight/braided, etc. I am making my body a docile body by changing how I look depending on the latest trend, how the weather is, and how well it currently is flowing. Not only do we take time considering how our hair should look like that day, but many women take the time to get their hair done or take time to straighten, curl, put rollers in, etc. From magazines, I create the image of the intelligible body that are sporting the current hottest trend of the nice highlights or hair color of the season, I change my hair color to that liking, a pursuit without terminus. The same deal goes with haircuts, whether it is the Jennifer Aniston hair or the Victoria Beckham bob, I go through this tiny dilemma of whose hair I'd like to mimic most. Even when I see the messy bun or ponytail, I think "oh hey, that looks nice" because I've seen the up-do proclaimed in the magazines and they've portrayed it as the current "in" look.
