Ipod Reading from Joe Shapiro (via Robin)

  1. I agree that the technology of mp3 players and ipods has created a loss in social skills for individuals, especially teens and children. When you see kids sitting on the bus on their way to or from school or teens on the commuter buses on campus, many have their Ipods/ MP3 players in. Many also have them in at airports, cafes, or any other environments like these. Some do this for the fact they do not want to interact with others, or some do because they don't want to look socially awkward sitting in silence while everyone else has their Ipods/ MP3 players in. It makes me wonder how teens and children are going to develop their social skills with strangers unless forced upon the situation. It is very sad that communication skills are being lost due to the continual technological progress in society, which is only going to continue to develop more in the future.
